Every Saturday is in-house date night at the Linwood household. Once the kids are in bed, we settle in with a good dinner, good wine and usually some homemade cheesecake for dessert. We’ll watch a few episodes of whatever TV show we’re currently watching (Stargate SG-1 currently – yep, nerd at heart, and an out of date one at that 😉 ) and just take it easy. Saturday’s the closest we have to a day off, so I consider any words written on Saturdays a win. So today’s number isn’t massive, but they’re words I didn’t have when I got up this morning.
Today’s words: 646.
Disclaimer: This quote is completely unedited and might be entirely different in the final version! It’s also really awkward today. 😉
He stands and addresses me, “Ms. Anderson, I presume?” His voice is deadpan, almost emotionless. He seems entirely unenthused to be here and my presence seems as welcome as a fly in his soup. I hope he’s not a reflection of the rest of the office.
I nod. “Yes, that’s me. I’m here to meet Declan Riordan.”
“Ms. Anderson, do you know the difference between a dead lawyer and a dead dog in the street?”
I have no idea what to say. What’s that got to do with anything? Is it a joke?
“There’re skidmarks in front of the dog,” he replies with perfect calm. Do I laugh here? I don’t know. What kind of place is this? For a moment the only sound is the soft hum of the office behind him while we stare at each other.
