So most of the day today was spent replotting in a new direction. I really wasn't feeling my original story, and that makes writing like pulling teeth. I got about 15,000 words into my original idea, and it just wasn't doing it for me. And if it's not doing it for me, it's not going to do it for you. I'm a pretty firm believer that if writing the story is like pulling teeth, reading it isn't going to be much better.

So, I discussed it a bit with my wonderful editor, who's always happy to give plot advice, and does it so well. Suddenly, I had a burst of new ideas, a more tightly tied together storyline and renewed interest in my story. So it was sort of a day of starting over. There'll be a lot of stuff I've written that I can keep, but I'll ax a lot of it too, replacing it with new, and hopefully better, content.

Kill your darlings, as they say. 🙂

“Get the hell out of my way, man.” Michael’s unimpressed even if I’m not. Whoever this guy is, he’s taller than my ex by almost a full head, broad-shouldered and wearing a black t-shirt that looks painted onto his muscular body. Colorful tattoos wind their way down both of his arms. Looking up at his face, I see the deepest, darkest blue eyes I’ve ever seen staring back at me under a knitted pair of dark eyebrows. His full lips are drawn in a tight line.

He looks freaking badass.
